It has now been over two weeks since I took the extraordinary decision to temporarily close the factory and what a rollercoaster of emotions it has been. It has been especially difficult as whatever decision was taken, I was letting the supply chain down, an impossible and immensely fearful situation to be in, however, such bold decisions had to be made if it meant staff and their families were to be kept as safe as possible.
I want to thank you again for the support I have received from our incredibly valued customers and suppliers, you have shone a light in a dark place and reaffirmed the necessary decisions I felt duty bound to make for the greater good.
During this period of temporary closure, we have been able to plan our safe reopening and I am very excited to announce Boxed Up Packaging will recommence dispatch on Monday 27th April 2020, with orders being accepted from Wednesday 22nd April 2020. Orders placed on 22nd April will be dispatched on Monday 27th April 2020. We have chosen the 27th April 2020 to safely reopen dispatch as we hope (and this is completely optimistic thinking but optimism must be cherished in this situation!) the virus will be on the downturn making it a safer and less fearful environment in which to operate.
To put your minds at rest, the safe reopening will include the reintroduction of the following measures to mitigate the risk of infection:
The ideal scenario would have been to hibernate until this whole nightmare was over, however, for many manufacturers this is neither possible nor practical. We have been fortunate to have been able hibernate at all but we must return as we have a loyal customer base to serve, suppliers to support and a fantastic community within Boxed Up Packaging to bring back together!
I’ll end by saying I started this process being socially responsible to our staff and their families, I now extend this to the wider society by offering our support to the national effort on PPE supply. I am now in the process of investigating how we, Boxed Up Packaging as manufacturers, can play our part in ensuring the NHS are duly protected whilst fighting COVID-19.
As we progress through these extraordinary times, I look forward to a new normality and I’m excited about the new opportunities, in time, this will bring to us all.
